Bank Holidays
Bank Holidays are essential for ensuring that all employees and organizational processes account for public holidays. Proper management of bank holidays helps in accurate scheduling, planning, and adherence to public holiday observances. In the context of leave management, bank holidays do not impact or decrease the leave balance of employees. This is because bank holidays are considered part of the standard public holiday schedule and are not counted as annual leave or personal leave days.
Managers can add and manage bank holidays, with options to mark them as repeated (annually recurring) or single (one-time) events. Bank Holidays can be checked/updated in Organization Settings by selecting Bank Holidays.
Adding and Managing Bank Holidays:
Accessing Bank Holidays:
- Navigate to the Organization Settings from the main menu.
- Select Bank Holidays to view or update the list of holidays.
Adding a New Bank Holiday:
- Click on the Add bank holiday+ button.
- Enter the holiday details:
- Date: Select the day and month for the bank holiday (e.g., July 04).
- Repeatable: Choose one of the following:
- Repeatable – (selected by default) defines a holiday that recurs every year. You must specify:
- Active from: The year when the recurring holiday should begin (optional).
- Active to: The year when it should stop being applied (optional).
- **Not repeatable **– use this option for a one-time holiday. When selected, the Active from and Active to fields are hidden.
- Notes:Add any additional information or comments related to the holiday (optional).
- Save the new bank holiday.
Managing Existing Bank Holidays: All configured bank holidays are displayed in a table that includes the Date, Active from, Active to, and optional Notes. The format *-MM-DD indicates a repeatable bank holiday applied annually on the same date. One-time (non-repeatable) holidays will display the full date format instead.
For each bank holiday entry, you can:
-
Edit the holiday using the pencil icon to change the date, type (repeatable/not repeatable), active years, or notes.
-
Delete the holiday using the trash icon. Once removed, the holiday will no longer apply to any calendar.
This interface helps maintain an accurate and flexible calendar setup tailored to your organization’s needs.
All bank holidays will be shown in the Work Time view for employees. They will be displayed similarly to regular holidays, with a shaded background.
Employees with schedules If bank holidays are not ignored for employees with an assigned work schedule, they will be shown in their weekly calendars. However, if bank holidays are set to be ignored, they will not be displayed for these employees (for more information: check Work Schedule Configuration article).
